Benteng TS

Located between the Lecture Theaters and the Library, this benteng is regularly visited by UiTM Johorians during the day.

     The place is most busy during the day and the evenings, because thats when the students and lecturers tend to drop by between classes to get light snacks.

     Which is what the place sells best, i think. Light snacks. Apart from the usual gerai menu, benteng TS sells things like doggie dogs, varieties of pau, goreng pisang, karipap, and.. roti canai. I'm not kidding. I think this is the best seller here. Because its the only place in the campus you can get roti canai, or roti telur, or roti bawang or things like that.

      You know, thats kind of the reason why a lot of things in this campus can get away with being crappy and yet have good sales. Because there are thousands of people to make a decent market. Hence, high demand, miniscule supply. Tada! Horrible services and food can pass off for premium prices. Humph. I'm sorry, that had nothing to do with benteng TS, it just kind of came out. Moving along, my roommate tells me they have nasi lemak and kuih muih in the morning. But she goes there mainly for the roti canai too. =)

      The thing that is notable about benteng TS, besides the roti canai, is the reputation of "Ibu". I hear she's a mata-duitan. And I beleive that its true. I've heard her yelling at her staff in front of the stall all angry and cursing because of something the poor girl did that caused kerugian or something. Wont repeat what I heard here, but really, as a businessperson, she should know better than to do that in front of customers.

Menu: Apart from the usual goreng-goreng we see at gerais, this spot also offers doggie dogs, pau (that the management are too stingy to keep the heating apparatus on, so its always  cold and not steaming hot), currypuffs, goreng pisang, keropok lekor, kuih-muih, and varieties of roti canai.

Price:  acceptable pricing la, i guess.

Mondays, Wednesdays-Fridays: 8.00am-10.00pm

Tuesdays: 8.00am-4.30pm

Closed on Saturdays and Sundays

Additional Notes:

Benteng TS also provides food for yasin, so ordering on Tuesdays can be tricky.

Sometimes the cats from SR and TS stop by for a bit. They're cute. =)

"Ibu", alsoopens a stall at the pasar malam, which explains why the shop closes early on Tuesdays.
