Restoran As-Salihin
Kedai Mereka Yang Soleh.. XD
This was one the first places the Joey ate at here in Segamat. in a line: Just another Malay restaurant.
The Place
Similar to how I get joy from reviewing food places because of my love for food, and how reviewing these places gives me an excuse to think about my favourite thing, I get no pleasure from reviewing Restoran As-Salihin.
Its just another regular Malay restaurant, and not a very good one at that. Its just.. average. There's nothing really spectacular about the place at all. Except that they occasionally have a "burung puyuh" sign outside, but neither the Wombat or the Joey have yet to have tasted this dish as of yet. In fact, the average-ness of this restaurant leaves the Joey speechless.
The food is nothing worth mentioning about, althought the portions are quite small. In fact, if this restaurant and the benteng Mutiara were both located right outside my room, I would gladly eat at the benteng without thinking twice.
I guess what makes this place not very popular with this particular Australian mammal is the service. It has bad service. Orders are taken like they're doing you a favour letting you eat there, and the owner of the restaurant is a coarse woman who quite obviously smokes and is not very friendly at all. When the Joey and the Wombat visited the premises the staff seemed rather bored (although they had nothing better to do at the time), and disinterested.
I say go to the mamak stall down the street where Chicken King used to be; instead. Its cleaner, tastier, faster, cheaper and the people are nicer to you there.
Evaluation:
Menu: Nasi goreng kampung, nasi goreng ayam, nasi goreng pattaya, nasi paprik, kuey teow... the usual stuff.. you knoww..
Price: considering the portion and the taste, I'd say Ergh.
Seating capacity: 60+
Location: Opposite Rollenco, that gift shop with the big Spongebobs and fat pink pigs!
The Joey's Ranking: Wouldnt make this one of my regular stops.
