Old Taste Ipoh White Coffee

Two words: Friendly Staff

The minute the Joey and the Wombat arrived on the premises, we got a very very warm welcome. (Although probably the picture-taking and the 'kami nak review tempat ni utk assignment, encik' had something to do with it..Wink)

The Place

The place has nice atmosphere. Good decor, which stands out in a little town like Segamat, although this is a branch, which explains things a little.

Its one of those modern businesses that attempts to capture the novelty and charm of something that is well loved and remembered (in this case the Kopitiam). Anyway, the Wombat and I decided to have our lunch here.

They serve things that you would expect to seein a kopitiam in Ipoh or any other town back in the day; only a step or two more upscale.

We both had a costly nasi lemak each and decided to share an Old Taste Kaya and Butter Toast which was a very charming sliver of a thingt hat they charged us a dollar for. Its worth noting here that the wait for the food was pretty long considering the simplicity of the things we ordered (Kopitiams always sell simple easy food anyway).

For what its worth, the Joey and the Wombat both agree that the nasi lemak that the place is famous for is indeed delicious. The rice was soft, hot and something else entirely. The sambal was sweet, and the whole ting was lovely in tems of taste. The portions were pretty small though, which we found depressing considering it tasted so good.

Anyway, all in all not a bad place to go if you've been in campus for a stretch and want a change of pace.
